Augusto Boal - the great creator of Forumtheatre and Theatre of the Oppressed. 1931-2009. Augusto Boal has visited Sweden almost every year since 30 years back, teaching thousands of pedagogues, teachers, socialworkers about Forumtheatre.
CTO of Sweden, called FTS, www.forumteater.se, has arranged a Forumtheatrefestival every year since 1993.

Katrin Byréus, teacher, dramateacher, author and consultant has been involved in teaching and education about Forumplay and Values excercises since 1979.
Forumplay originates from Forum Theatre (Theatre of the Oppressed) created by Augusto Boal, Brazilian theatre-maker, educationalist and author, active all over the world.

Katrin Byréus has bin working with Forumplay for almost 30 years. In her work she has adapted Forumplay to Swedish conditions and working with young people. She has developed the method by adding Values Clarification excercises. By using value excercises we make the discussions more democratic, motivate everybody to participate and let the participants work on their own individual set of values and increase co-ordination between thoughts and actions.

Katrin Byréus provides workshops and seminars all over Sweden, Denmark, Norway and other countries, like Vietnam 2006, India 2008 and White Russia /Belarus/ 2004-2009.

Methods:
Value Clarification exercises are designed to initiate discussion and deal with values in areas such as moral issues, lifestyles and drugs, i.e. environmentally conditioned issues that lack ready-made answers. When working with Value Clarification exercises you become aware of your own thoughts and feelings. You are given the opportunity to revise your attitudes and values in order to better harmonize the interaction between words and deeds. The aim is to conterbalance the image of oneself as a "victim" whose life is left to mercy of chance. You become aware of the choices we make and our freedom to choose something else.
In addition to dealing with attitudes and values the exercese contributes to increased self-confidence among the participants provided the work is conducted in a manner where the participants´opinions and ideas are treated with respect.

A Forumplay depicts problems and dilemmas in easily identifiable everyday situations. The play ends in unresolved conflict in order to stimulate the audience into actively intervening with the purpose of resolving the simulated conflict. The last scene of the play is repeated and members of the audience are invited to replace the disadvantaged player and test their own conflict resolution suggestions.
Forumplay offer practical training in empathy, how to set limits and conflict resolution etc.

Teamgames are mixed with Value exercises for bodily contact, teambuilding and challenges in order for the group to develop the positively.
